History:

In the beginning, God created the Heavens, and the Earth...Whoops, too far back in history...

Elitch Gardens was an old-style park, much like Lakeside. They had origionally started as Elitch Zoological Gardens. They added a couple of rides to make the kids happy, and in time, the rides took over the park. A couple of years ago, the park moved, at which time, they started being more of a modern park with steel coasters and stuff like that. Their service started going down the tubes, but the rides are some of the best ever. Recently, they were bought by Six Flags, a very large chain of Amusement Parks. The servise hasn't changed recently, but the rides keep improving.

NOW OPEN

Rides:

Batwing

Rise up and spin around in cars designed to look like the batwing (sort-of). Take the handle to have partial control of your seat. Must be 42" to ride with an adult, and 48" to ride alone.

Big Wheel

A ferris wheel that is over 100 feet tall!! And if you don't know what a ferris wheel is, get the heck out! 42" to ride alone.

Boomerang

A steel coaster (Not inverted--Feet don't dangle, I'll tell you if they do). This ride takes you through loops and boomerang twists, then does it again...Backwards. Must be 48" to ride.

Chaos

The whole ride spins, as well as each seat. Spin, and tilt up, and your car might just go upside-down...Must be 48" to ride.

Carousel

Also called a Merry-Go-Round, but you should already know that. This one is74 years old, and fully restored. 36" to ride alone.

Disaster Canyon

Get into a big raft with a few other people, and ride down the rapids. You will get wet on this ride. Available memorial Day Through Labor Day, although it is often closed. 36" to ride with adult, 42" to ride alone.

The Flying Coaster

Step up to the ride, and climb on...Standing...Then you will be tipped forward, and feel the sensation of flying, because you lay down on it!!!!!!!!!! Just be careful so it doesn't hurt you head too bad...Unknown height restrictions...

Half-Pipe: (NEW THIS YEAR!!!!!):

No other information at this time.

Hollywood & vine

Hold on, and spin...rather fast. 48" to ride with an adult. 54" to ride alone. No single riders.

Looney Tunes MovieTown

Kiddie Land--Must be under 54". Adults must be accompanied by someone under 54".

The Mind Eraser

Steel coaster...Feet dangle. Must be 52" to ride, but no more than 80".

Observation Tower

You'll never guess what this is...I'll give you a couple hints...it's 360 feet tall, and has two high speed elevators. Must 42" to go up alone.

Rainbow

You really get the negative Gs on this one, as you go in a circle. No single riders. Must be at least 48" to ride.

Sea Dragon

Ah, yes, many parks have a classic swining ship ride, and this is it. Swing up and down, forward, and backwards. Tip: All seats face the middle, and you want one of the two back rows. They go higher. Under 42" must be accompanied by an adult. No infants.

Shake, Rattle and Roll

A rather large swing that goes upside down, sometimes fast, and sometimes slower. You might want to sit forward in your seat, though. They squeeze you in really tight, and sliding forward helps. Believe me, there will be some guys yelling "AAHHHH!!! My nuts!!! You broke my nuts!!!" Must be at least 55" and no taller than 77" to ride.

Shipwreck Falls

Somewhat refreshing at times, at other times, the water is just too gross. Sit in a log, and go up the hill, around the curve, then back down. To exit, walk over the bridge...fast! The bridge gets wetter than the ride, so if you don't want another helping of yuck-o water (it's only yuck-o sometimes, though), you better hurry before the next log drops. Msut be at least 36" to ride accompanied by an adult and 48" to ride alone.

Sidewinder

Go down the hill, through the loop, and up the other side, then return...backwards. A must at this park. Must be at least 48" to ride.

Spider

As anyone in his right mind knows, a spider ride has several "legs" and "feet" that spin around, and up and down and around, and... Under 42" need an adult. No infants.

Tea Cups

Everyone (especially people with little kids) knows what the tea cups ride is like. Sit in a cup, and spin. A bit too lame for me, but my friend David just loves it, in fact, that's about the on;y ride he goes on... Under 42" must be accompanied by an adult. No infants.

Thunder Bolt

The track is a circle with slight "waves" in it. You go around it, then backward. Must be at least 48" to ride.

Tilt-A-Whirl

A spinning platform with spinning cars. A great ride. Under 46" must be accompanied by and adult. No infants.

Tower of Doom

Strap in and creep slowly up to the top of a tower over 200 feet high where you will wait to drop back to the bottom. The ultimate free-fall ride. Must be at least 48" to ride.

Troika

Turn of the Century

The swing ride. 'nuff said. Must be 48" or higher.
